This Friday the brilliant\u00a0Aimee Mann<\/strong><\/a> will release her highly-anticipated new album, Mental Illness<\/strong><\/em>, on Mann\u2019s<\/strong> own SuperEgo Records<\/strong>. It’s her first in five years and one of the best in her nine-album history. The album is perfectly produced and filled with memorable melodies and adroit captures of the mental, modern life.\u00a0Mann<\/strong> has already revealed the heart-rending, socially-anxious\u00a0Goose Snow Cone<\/em><\/strong><\/a> and the masterful keeping-up-with-the-Goldwyns\u00a0Patient Zero<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0from the album.<\/p>\n

Last night Mann<\/strong> appeared on the Colbert Show<\/strong> and, superbly backed by\u00a0<\/i>Colbert’s<\/strong>\u00a0Jon Batiste<\/strong> and Stay Human\u00a0<\/strong>band, performed Goose Snow Cone<\/strong><\/em>. As an added, web-exclusive Mann<\/strong> was invited back to sing the melodious, malodorous\u00a0Can’t You Tell?<\/strong>,\u00a0<\/em>the song she contributed to an anti-Trump project called 30 Days, 30 Songs<\/strong><\/em>. About the song, Mann<\/strong> has said: “I wanted to write about Trump in the first person because I think it\u2019s more interesting to speculate on what people\u2019s inner life might be. I had heard a theory that Trump\u2019s interest in running for President was really kicked off at the 2011 White House Correspondent\u2019s dinner when President Obama basically roasted him, so that\u2019s where I started.
