Given the given name of Aldous<\/strong>, we were leaning towards Huxley<\/strong> or some other chap. Nope. Aldous Harding<\/strong> is a decidedly female New Zealander whose just-released album Party<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0(on 4AD<\/strong>) was produced by the talented\u00a0John Parish<\/strong> (PJ Harvey, Eels, M. Ward, Perfume Genius,Tom Brosseau<\/strong>). Our first introduction to Harding<\/strong> comes via the recent official video for her beguiling, Lorde-blessed<\/strong> song Imagining My Man<\/strong><\/em>, which you can watch below. The song opens with Cat Power\/The National<\/strong> piano tones before introducing Harding’s<\/strong> exquisite (Kate Bush<\/strong>-like) vocals, then backing vocals by Perfume Genius’<\/strong>\u00a0busy-boy Mike Hadreas<\/strong>, and some Wall<\/strong><\/em>-esque kid-group screams of “Hey!!” and “Yes!!” And oh the mournful sax in the coda. So very good.<\/p>\n
