“Oh my, oh my, have you seen the weather? The sweet September rain.”<\/h2>\n

You might think that all we’ve been listening to<\/strong><\/a> is The National’s<\/strong> new album Sleep Well Beast<\/strong><\/em>, and you’d be mostly right. But other great music has wafted through. There’s both new (Courtney Barnett & Kurt Vile’s<\/strong> Over Everything<\/strong><\/em> single, Dave Rawlings Machine’s<\/strong> new album Poor David’s Almanack<\/strong><\/em>,\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>the Mynabirds’<\/strong> new Be Here Now<\/strong><\/em> album, the recent Grizzly Bear<\/strong><\/em> album, etc.) and old high-quality sounds on the air.<\/p>\n

Speaking of old, our ears perked up this morning while listening to the incredible, underrated Brit-band Prefab Sprout <\/strong><\/a>and their stellar song When Love Breaks Down<\/strong><\/em>. Following recent, crazy California weather (last night the Santa Barbara Channel<\/strong>\u00a0saw lightning, thunder and rain usually only seen in the tropics–see pictures above), the following lines from that great song took us aback:<\/p>\n

“Oh my, oh my, have you seen the weather
\nThe sweet September rain
\nRain on me like no other
\nUntil I drown, until I drown.”<\/p>\n

When<\/strong><\/em> Love Breaks Down<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0(lyrics at bottom) is but one of many seminal 80s-Brit-pop songs on\u00a0Prefab Sprout’s<\/strong>\u00a0revered and highly-recommended album Two Wheels Good<\/strong><\/em>.\u00a0Two Wheels Good<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0is a great introduction to the complicated-pop of\u00a0Prefab Sprout\u00a0<\/strong>and their powerful discography. Check ’em out.<\/p>\n
