But oft-times its the un-polished portion that punctually pierces our musical hearts. This morning the gifted and famously &#8220;troubled&#8221; singer-songwriter <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hihowareyou.com\/\"><strong>Daniel Johnston<\/strong><\/a> appeared on <strong>KCRW&#8217;s Morning Becomes Eclectic<\/strong> with his famous friends\u00a0<strong>Mike Watt<\/strong> (bass), <strong>Ben Lee<\/strong> (acoustic guitar, vocals),\u00a0<strong>Guy Blakesee<\/strong> (electric guitar, vocals),\u00a0<strong>Maria Taylor<\/strong> (piano\/keys, vocals),\u00a0<strong>Joey Waronker<\/strong> (drums), <strong>Lucius <\/strong>(<strong>Jess Wolfe &amp; Holly Laessig<\/strong> on vocals), and the <strong>Silver Lake Chorus<\/strong> (<strong>Heather Ogilvy, Kel Pritchard, Jen Daking, Erin Rye, Miles Hartfelder, Nicholas Pasqua, Ben Fordham, Sam Breslin,<\/strong> and <strong>Michael Wells<\/strong>). This uber-talented ensemble will perform with <strong>Johnston<\/strong> tonight at the <strong>Orpheum<\/strong> in LA.<\/p>\n<p>While the entire <strong>MBE<\/strong> set was phenomenally captivating to listen to (listen <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kcrw.com\/music\/shows\/morning-becomes-eclectic\/daniel-johnston\"><strong>HERE<\/strong><\/a>), it wasn&#8217;t until we watched the visuals in the videos below that we really got a sense for what is going on here, which in a (overused) word is: magic. Watch &#8217;em and weep. Step out into the light and rejoice!
