We learn something every day. House of Strombo<\/a><\/strong>? Who knew (forgive us Mr. Strombo)? But thankfully we now know. House of Strombo<\/strong> is self-described as “the home of the best records played in the best order, from the 1-2-3-4 to the 808’s and beyond. Interviews, intimate sessions and full blown house concerts.” And so it is. To back up their words, watch the session below and afterwards go HERE <\/a><\/strong>to see a recent House of Strombo<\/strong> session with the deservedly famed John Prine<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We arrived at House of Strombo<\/strong> thanks to the bountiful (in song and number) Broken Social Scene<\/a><\/strong>,\u00a0one\u00a0of\u00a0our\u00a0favorite\u00a0bands of all-time. Check out below as the band (and all its illustrious members) perform an enthralling set featuring old favorites (Cause = Time<\/em><\/strong>–alone well worth your time–and Ibi Dreams of Pavement<\/em><\/strong>) and new songs (Can\u2019t Find My Heart<\/em><\/strong> and 1972<\/em><\/strong>). The democratic\/unselfish band also takes time out to feature members Jason Collett<\/a> <\/strong>(I\u2019ll Bring The Sun<\/strong>), Feist<\/a><\/strong> (Lover’s Spit<\/em><\/strong>) and La Force<\/a><\/strong> (TBT<\/em><\/strong>) while band leaders Kevin Drew<\/strong> and Brendan Canning<\/strong> graciously kill (along with a cast of a thousand greats, including a new-to-us female horn player). Witness a trademark Canning-Kick<\/strong>, the righteous and riotous Pavement<\/strong>-stylee dishevelment on Ibi Dreams<\/em><\/strong>, the deft drumming by Justin Peroff\u00a0<\/strong>(especially on\u00a0new\u00a0song\u00a0Can’t\u00a0Find\u00a0My\u00a0Heart<\/em><\/strong>), Jason Collett’s <\/strong>great song, and then that magic that Feist<\/strong> always does on Lover’s Spit<\/em><\/strong> (and especially during its coda when Feist she crouches down to Ariel Engle<\/strong> and the two quietly harmonize beautifully to close). <\/p>\n\n\n\n
