{"id":7383,"date":"2011-10-19T15:27:58","date_gmt":"2011-10-19T15:27:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thelefortreport.com\/blog\/?p=7383"},"modified":"2011-10-19T16:13:25","modified_gmt":"2011-10-19T16:13:25","slug":"hardly-strictly-bluegrass-festival-video-wrap-up","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thelefortreport.com\/blog\/2011-10\/hardly-strictly-bluegrass-festival-video-wrap-up\/","title":{"rendered":"Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival&#8211;Video Wrap-Up"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We&#8217;ve about milked the <strong>HSBF<\/strong> for all it&#8217;s worth here in post-ville.\u00a0 So let&#8217;s call it a wrap with some remaining videos shot at the event.<\/p>\n<p>First up from <strong>Day 1<\/strong> of HSBF is <strong>Bright Eyes<\/strong> (<strong>Best Set of Day Winner) <\/strong>and guest <strong>M. Ward <\/strong>performing a <strong>Monsters of Folk <\/strong>song, <em><strong>Smoke Without Fire<\/strong><\/em>.\u00a0<em><strong> <\/strong><\/em>Bear with the video as it starts out fuzzy, but quickly gets better.\u00a0 This song provided some of the more memorable moments of HSBF.\u00a0 The song is great (particularly enjoyable are <strong>Mike Mogis&#8217; pedal steel<\/strong> and <strong>Nate Walcott&#8217;s flugelhorn<\/strong> embellishments), but (sadly?) what will be remembered about this performance is the <strong>Conductor of Hands<\/strong> guy who can be seen in a white baseball hat up on a rise behind the band.\u00a0 He begins waving his hands and carrying on pretty early in the song, and eventually has the entire crowd waving along.\u00a0 When <strong>M. Ward<\/strong> first stepped up to the mike to sing, he could only have been wondering:\u00a0 what the heck is going on here?\u00a0 The musicians did their best to ignore the Conductor, but it became laughable.\u00a0 A classic Hardly Strictly moment in Golden Gate Park.\u00a0 That&#8217;s what you get &#8220;for free&#8221; sometimes.\u00a0 Consider it the Conductor&#8217;s 15-seconds of fame.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Bright Eyes with M.
