Pearson Sings &#8220;O Holy Night&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-8397\" title=\"JoshTPearson_BrianDoherty\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thelefortreport.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/JoshTPearson_BrianDoherty.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"570\" height=\"503\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thelefortreport.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/JoshTPearson_BrianDoherty.jpg 570w, https:\/\/www.thelefortreport.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/JoshTPearson_BrianDoherty-150x132.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.thelefortreport.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/JoshTPearson_BrianDoherty-450x397.jpg 450w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 570px) 100vw, 570px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>No, we&#8217;re not talking about the &#8220;Best of 2011&#8221; lists unleashed each year at this time (ours are still being sanded, but we&#8217;re up to 120-grit sandpaper).\u00a0 We&#8217;re talking about Christmas carols (begrudgingly&#8211;people, no more Christmas lights or carols before December 1st&#8211;please!) and the saving new interpretations served up each year by metiers adept in this trade.\u00a0 Sufjan Stevens and a cadre of carolers have over the years given us revelatory (or at least charming) new renditions of the old chestnuts and occasionally added a talisman or two in the process.<\/p>\n<p>Our favorite all-time Christmas carol is <em><strong>O Holy Night<\/strong><\/em>, and our favorite version thereof is still (John) <strong>Hughes &amp; <\/strong>(Tad) <strong>Wagner&#8217;s<\/strong> harmony-heavy read (which you can listen to way below) taken from a great Christmas compendium, &#8220;<strong>The Gift<\/strong>,&#8221; which is a mainstay each year at Chez Lefort.\u00a0 <strong>Aquarium Drunkard<\/strong> is pointing to a new read of <em>O Holy Night<\/em> by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thelefortreport.com\/blog\/2011-06\/the-real-country-no-12-and-related-take-away-show\/\"><strong>Josh T.
