band that plays what they&#8217;ve dubbed &#8220;death country&#8221; music.\u00a0 If this is death, then call us when you&#8217;re ready.\u00a0 The band recently performed in<strong> CBC&#8217;s Studio Q<\/strong>.\u00a0 The first two songs below (the catchy and cathartic <em><strong>Northern Air<\/strong><\/em> and <em><strong>Hold You<\/strong><\/em>) are from that recent Studio Q session and are off their new album, <strong>Death Into Years<\/strong>, which is being released in the U.S. this<strong> very day <\/strong>and which you can pick up<strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/shop.paperbagrecords.com\/products\/days-into-years\">HERE<\/a> <\/strong>on<strong> Paper Bag Records<\/strong>.\u00a0 After those two performances, check out a 2009 Studio Q session on which they played the driving-and-thriving songs <em><strong>Miss You Now<\/strong><\/em> and <em><strong>The Valley Town<\/strong><\/em> from their Polaris Prize-nominated 2008 album, <strong>Mountain Meadows<\/strong>.\u00a0 And then finally check a couple of rocking performances of <em><strong>Johnny Rooke <\/strong><\/em>and<em><strong> The Bridge<\/strong><\/em> off of their first album<strong><\/strong>. \u00a0 These guys can throttle it with the best of &#8217;em.\u00a0 Though the studio versions of the new album&#8217;s songs add textures and instruments, we like these stripped-down, raw singalongs too.<\/p>\n<p>They have a bit of the <strong>Avetts<\/strong> feel to them, particularly when you see the earlier emphatic deliveries way below.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">The band is embarking on a U.S. tour that will bring them to San Francisco&#8217;s Rickshaw Stop on March 2nd (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.rickshawstop.com\/event\/81605\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>INFO &amp; TICKETS)<\/strong><\/a> and to The Echo in LA on March 3rd (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ticketweb.com\/t3\/sale\/SaleEventDetail?dispatch=loadSelectionData&amp;eventId=4126355&amp;pl=echo\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>INFO &amp;
